Campaigners call on Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC) to advocate for children’s futures, not cheap flights

Children’s Rights Over Flights campaigners held a protest outside the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC), calling on ITIC to advocate for children’s futures instead of cheap flights.

Aviation industry spin includes the claim that the Irish tourism industry will suffer if aviation is curbed.  However, it is very likely that more money flows out of the country by people in Ireland flying abroad, than flows into the country through inward tourism[ref].   In 2023, according to the Central Statistics Office, the total estimated expenditure of visitors to Ireland was €7.3 billion[ref]. In the same year, total expenditure on outbound overnight trips amounted to $12.9 billion[ref].
